SOMA. Prevención · Physiotherapy in the Maresme and Barcelona

Something in your body isn’t right. And you’ve run out of things to try.

Pain that keeps coming back, an injury that keeps repeating, or a body that doesn’t respond like it used to. Tell us what’s going on and we’ll start there.

What’s going on with you?

Sound familiar?

This is what people tell us every week in the clinic:

Back pain

Athletes

Longevity

How long have you been like this?

What gets left behind along the way

What have you already tried?

What people tell us they have already tried:

Have you ever added up everything you’ve spent with nothing to show for it?

On sessions, on tests, on treatments. And on time.

And on top of that, what your body has already paid. Through public healthcare or your insurer it didn’t cost you money, but it did affect the integrity of your body.

So why has none of it worked?

You didn’t need to try more things: you needed to find the source.

That’s why we don’t treat pain where it shows up: we treat it where it starts.

Why now

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Real stories

From where you are to where you could be.

From two years of undiagnosed pain to playing every day again

Where they started
They hurt their glute in a fall. Two years, five doctors, more than forty sessions, a rhizolysis and an injection later, no diagnosis matched what they were feeling. They had given up rugby and were taking anti-anxiety medication and antidepressants to be able to sleep.
What we did
We didn’t look for another name for the pain: with a three-month program, we looked for why their body kept protecting itself that way, session after session.
Where they are today
After two sessions they could already feel a difference. They stopped the painkillers, then the anti-anxiety medication, then the antidepressant. Today they do strength training three times a week, go paddle surfing every day — and they sleep.

From limping in to finishing a trail race pain-free

Where they started
They arrived with Achilles tendinitis that made it impossible to walk or run. On day one they limped into the clinic.
What we did
Rehab sessions in the clinic combined with guided exercise to do at home, session after session.
Where they are today
They walked out the same day. Beyond recovering from the injury, they got fit enough for a trail race and finished it pain-free. Today they’re training normally again.

From not being able to stand up straight to walking out tall

Where they started
She came in with back and lower back pain. Her mother, with advanced osteoarthritis and dysphagia, came into the clinic completely hunched over because the pain wouldn’t let her stand up straight.
What we did
Assessment and treatment tailored to each of them, with ongoing follow-up over time instead of one-off sessions.
Where they are today
She left her back pain behind. Her mother walks out of the clinic standing tall and has regained her quality of life day to day — after being told there was nothing more to be done.

Stop living in fear of movement.

Three steps. No detours.

  1. Full assessment.
    • Back pain: We look for why your back hurts, not just where. We review your scans and how you move.
    • Athletes: We look for why you keep getting injured: your spine, your muscle chain and what your sport demands.
    • Longevity: We check your strength, balance and joints to know where we’re starting from.
  2. We treat the cause.

From day one: you leave your first visit with the treatment already done.

  3. A plan so it doesn’t come back.
    • Back pain: Exercise and habits for your back, so you don’t depend on anyone.
    • Athletes: Rehab and prevention for your sport, to come back stronger and stop relapsing.
    • Longevity: Adapted strength training to gain years of mobility and move with confidence.

First visit: full assessment and treatment the same day. In Barcelona, Premià de Dalt and Sant Andreu de Llavaneres. Also online.

It all starts at your first visit

  1. Full assessment.
    • Back pain: We check your whole spine and how you move to understand why your back pain keeps coming back. Herniation, protrusion, low back pain or sciatica: we look for where it starts, not just where it hurts.
    • Athletes: We analyze your spine and muscle chain — hip, knee, ankle, shoulder — to find the imbalance that keeps making you relapse in your sport.
    • Longevity: We assess your strength, balance and joints — knee, hip, spine — to know where we’re starting from and how far we can go.
  2. Comprehensive Treatment Session.
    • Back pain: Physiotherapy, osteopathy and chiropractic care in a single session to restore mobility to your spine and relieve pain from day one. In person.
    • Athletes: Physiotherapy, osteopathy and chiropractic care in a single session to release overloads and recover the mobility your sport demands. In person.
    • Longevity: Physiotherapy, osteopathy and chiropractic care in a single session to relieve joint pain and recover mobility. In person.
  3. Therapeutic exercise.
    • Back pain: An exercise program for your case that strengthens and stabilizes your back so the pain doesn’t come back.
    • Athletes: Readaptation and prevention for your sport and season — running, padel, golf, football or gym — to get back to training with a stable spine.
    • Longevity: Adapted strength training from 50 on and therapeutic exercise for osteoarthritis: more muscle, more balance and more confidence so you don’t fall.
  4. Nutrition.
    • Back pain: Macronutrients tailored to your goal so your body has what it needs to recover. No pills and no dependency on treatment.
    • Athletes: Macronutrients tailored to your training, to recover between sessions and perform better.
    • Longevity: Macronutrients tailored to slow down the loss of muscle mass that comes with age.
  5. Education & autonomy.
    • Back pain: We explain how your spine works and what to do day to day so you don’t relapse.
    • Athletes: We teach you to read your body and manage your load: more active seasons and fewer relapses.
    • Longevity: We teach you to move safely in everyday life, to gain years of mobility and not just get rid of pain.

If you do it online, the first visit is by video call, without manual therapy.

Then you move forward in stages

  1. Recovery.
    • Back pain: Bring your back pain down and restore basic function.
    • Athletes: Treat the injury and restore basic function.
    • Longevity: Relieve joint pain and recover mobility.
  2. Readaptation.
    • Back pain: Move again without fear of the pain coming back.
    • Athletes: Load again without relapsing: movements, footwork and impacts.
    • Longevity: Move safely in your everyday life.
  3. General preparation.
    • Back pain: Build the strength that protects your back.
    • Athletes: Build strength and a solid physical base.
    • Longevity: Gain muscle and balance.
  4. Specific preparation.
    • Back pain: Your daily life and what you love doing, pain-free.
    • Athletes: Perform in your sport, stronger than before.
    • Longevity: Active longevity: reaching every decade with a capable body.

We decide together at your first visit how many stages we’ll cover.

Roger Pont, physiotherapist

Ten years in the clinic

Hearing the same stories every week: pain that keeps coming back, injuries that repeat, and bodies that were told nothing more could be done.

The spine at the center

All his work starts there: pain often doesn’t start where you feel it. That’s why he looks for the cause instead of stopping at the spot that hurts.

From the operating room to recovery

He works with a medical team on surgical procedures and supports athletes in their projects.

2019 · SOMA. Prevención is born

From a simple idea: pain isn’t solved with a one-off session — it’s supported through a process.

Trained at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC) and with Carlos Lorenzana at Kine Method Therapies. Licensed physiotherapist no. 15266 · Col·legi de Fisioterapeutes de Catalunya.

It wasn’t a miracle session. It was finding the cause.

My story · Roger

Starting point
I had lower back pain as a kid. The doctor said I had scoliosis because my left leg was slightly shorter, and gave me a cork lift for my shoe. At fifteen my back locked up: more than a year of pain, tingling, constant lock-ups and pain running from my glute down to the back of my knee. Looking back, I think it started when the lift wore out and broke. At the time, nobody made the connection.
What I did
An osteopath took the pain away… but it kept coming back: I needed a session every month so my back wouldn’t lock up again. At eighteen I started working with a friend’s father, the person who taught me almost everything I know. He treated me almost every day with the same approach I use with my patients today and, even so, almost every day there was pain. I was coping with the problem, not solving it.
What changed
One day he told me: “Go and see a podiatrist and get a gait analysis.” And it clicked: as a kid I’d worn a lift. They made me some insoles and the pain went away. All of it. Today I train strength, cardio, mobility and flexibility, have a maintenance physio session every so often, and keep my insoles checked.

How we understand the body today

For decades, when something hurt, you treated it.

For decades, taking care of the body meant one very specific thing: when something hurt, you treated it. You got injured, saw a professional, they relieved the pain, and you went back to your life until the next time. And it worked. A whole generation of professionals did enormous work with the knowledge and tools of their time, and we owe much of what we know today to them.

Our knowledge of the body hasn’t stood still.

But our knowledge of the human body hasn’t stood still. It has advanced. And with it, our understanding of what it truly means to care for a person.

The body doesn’t work in separate pieces.

Today we know something that changes everything: the body doesn’t work in separate pieces. What hurts in one place is often born somewhere else. A stiff area, certain habits, too many hours sitting, the way you move every day — it’s all connected. That’s why looking only at the point that hurts stays on the surface. At SOMA. Prevención we look at the whole picture: where the problem comes from, not just where it shows up.

Removing pain isn’t the end of the work — it’s the beginning.

And we also know that removing pain isn’t the end of the work — it’s the beginning. Relieving discomfort gives you back today’s wellbeing, but if the body stays just as weak, just as stiff, moving the same way, the problem comes back. That’s why movement, well-guided exercise, and nutrition are no longer optional extras: they’re part of care. Not for once you’re better, but from day one.

An evolution society as a whole has gone through.

This is the evolution society as a whole has gone through. Today we’re all more aware that the body is cared for by moving it, feeding it, and understanding it — not just repairing it when it breaks. Newer generations take this for granted. And that’s exactly where we work from.

Caring for the body is a relationship that lasts a lifetime.

Because caring for the body, properly understood, isn’t a one-off act: it’s a relationship that lasts a lifetime. The body, if you stop attending to it, moves backward. Keeping it strong, mobile, and pain-free isn’t a luxury or an obsession — it’s the best investment in how you’ll move, and live, over the next ten, twenty, or thirty years.

That’s SOMA. Prevención. We don’t treat isolated symptoms: we help people understand their body, recover it, and care for it so the change is real and lasting. With respect for everything that was done before, and everything we know how to do better today.

The doubts we hear

What happens at the first visit?

A full assessment: we listen to your history and review any imaging you bring —X-rays, MRIs, ultrasound scans—. Then we look at how you move and find where the pain starts, and that same day we do the first treatment to see how your body responds. You leave with a clear plan.

Why programs instead of one-off sessions?

Because an isolated session brings relief, but what changes the outcome is consistency and follow-up. If you've tried one-off sessions, you know the cycle: you improve for a while… then it comes back. Programs move through phases —recovery, readaptation, preparation— until we've built a capable body.

How long until I'm better?

It depends on your case — that's why we start with an assessment. Many patients with low back pain notice clear changes in the first weeks, and after the first visit you'll know the plan and realistic timelines for you, not an average.

I have a herniated disc / surgery has been suggested. Can you help?

Yes. An MRI finding isn't a sentence: plenty of people have herniations on imaging and no pain. We analyze your scans and your movement. And if surgery is on the table, conservative work adds up: arriving strong —or rebuilding function afterwards— improves the process. We never contradict your doctor: we complement.

Do you work with private insurers?

We're not in insurer networks, but we prepare a fully detailed invoice so you can claim reimbursement. If your policy is a reimbursement one ("free choice"), you can choose freely and recover a good part — many people have one without knowing it.

How can the online program work without hands-on treatment?

Most recovery from mechanical pain comes from correct, progressive exercise. A well-run video-call assessment is reliable for most cases — and if your case needs hands-on or in-person care, we'll tell you and refer you honestly.

What if I start and have to pause (work, travel, life)?

The program pauses and resumes: sessions aren't lost. Life happens — the plan adapts.

Physio or orthopedic specialist for back pain?

They're not mutually exclusive: the specialist handles the medical or surgical side; physiotherapy treats movement — the mechanical cause of pain. For most back pain without red flags, starting with exercise and active therapy is recommended. If your case needs a doctor, we'll tell you and refer you.

When should I see a physio for back pain?

Don't wait until it's unbearable. If the pain has lasted more than two weeks, keeps coming back, or makes you avoid movements, it's time for an assessment: the sooner the cause is treated, the shorter recovery tends to be.

Do you guarantee results?

No honest health professional can guarantee a cure — be wary of anyone who does. What we do guarantee: an individualized plan, progress measured with data at every check-in, and total honesty if something isn't evolving as it should.
